The new Citroën C5 Tourer pulls off an amazing feat of optical illusion - disguising its ample interior with a nimble-looking, silky silhouette that evokes performance from every angle.

The C5 Tourer showcases unique design and aerodynamic elegance, whichever way you look at it. And you know, by looking at its dynamic and self-assured posture that it means business. The front end is identical to the C5 Saloon, so it’s refreshingly attractive, and as the sleek lines sweep towards the back, the Tourer doesn’t let your eyes down. The chunky bumper, wide-angle tailgate glazing and high rear spoiler give it an air of supreme capability. Unique ‘boomerang’ rear lights, and the low-slung look suggest performance, purpose, and quiet confidence.

It’ll certainly turn heads as it glides by, too, as it takes pride of place among the most stylish cars of its kind on the road. There’s a wide range of colours and finishes available, including metallic and pearlescent options for all models.

The dynamic and fluid outline of Citroën C5 Tourer masks excellent load capacity and a useable, well-shaped load space. A motorised Tailgate* is also available allowing the boot to be opened at the touch of a button.

A load volume of 505 litres under the load cover is easily accessible through a wide-opening tailgate and this leads to interior dimensions of 1115mm wide and 851mm high. The load cover rolls out to cover the full length of the boot, protecting belongings from unwanted attention while the vehicle is parked. A boot net can be positioned in many different ways within the load area using the various load hooks and can prevent loads from sliding around the boot while the vehicle is moving.

Thanks to the Hydractive III+ suspension, the load sill is height adjustable on the new C5 Tourer allowing the load height to be raised or lowered by up to 6cm. This automatically returns to the normal level once the vehicle moves away or by using the control switches in the cabin.

A useful removable torch is also situated in the boot of the C5 Tourer, doubling up as a boot light, the torch can be removed when required. For even greater load space, the rear seats fold in a 2/3, 1/3 split allowing longer, larger items to be carried as required. Stylish roof bars also feature for additional carrying capacity.

Remarkable Performance

Start the engine in the new C5 and you barely feel any vibrations. That's because the engine vibrations are countered by computer-controlled pneumatic engine mounts. Virtually every function of the C5 is monitored and controlled by three digital computer networks.

The new C5 ensures minimal CO2 levels by cutting pollutant emissions with its electronically controlled high-pressure direct injection diesel engines. Both engine types are equipped with a diesel particle filter system, which eliminates particle emissions.

The Citroën C5 is equipped with a choice of 2 diesel engines:

2.0L Turbo 100kW - with torque of 320Nm at 2000 rpm
2.7L Twin Turbo 150kW - with torque of 440Nm at 1900 rpm

The automatic 6 speed sequential gearbox allows the driver to choose freely between a fully automatic mode, that adapts to the driving style of the driver, and the sequential function allowing for manual changes if required.

Hydractive III + Suspension

An outstanding ride is always expected of a Citroën, and the Hydractive III+ suspension system delivers! Citroën's most advanced suspension system to date, with its revolutionary technology, offers a whole new standard in luxurious, comfortable driving.

The Hydractive III+ is based on the same concept as the world famous Citroën invention of Hydropneumatic Suspension, or the 'magic carpet ride' as it was known. The Hydractive III+ suspension can alter both the height and firmness, overcoming the usual compromise between ride-comfort and handling.

At speed, the car can automatically lower itself for increased stability and improved fuel consumption. On rough roads, it can automatically adjust itself for increased clearance and comfort. Thanks to the self-levelling feature you are also guaranteed a constant ride height, regardless of the load or number of passengers. At the touch of a button, you can spice things up with the 'sport mode'.

The Hydractive III+ suspension system is also maintenance free for 5yrs/200,000kms.

ABS, EBD, EBA and ESP with ASR Traction Control

To give the Citroën C5 impeccable road handling and ensure the safety of the occupants in all circumstances, the C5 is fitted with ESP offering increased computing power.

In difficult situations, a full range of electronic driving aids take immediate action.

ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) are completed by emergency braking assistance to further reduce the stopping distance. In the event of a loss of grip, ESP automatically puts the car back on course and limits skidding of the wheels by means of the ASR traction-control system.

The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) function relies on steering sensors to detect the first signs of understeering or oversteering. The new, more powerful control unit sends out a command to correct the understeering or oversteering, applying adequate brake power on one or more wheels as required. In this way, the vehicle's course is corrected with greater precision and accuracy.

The roomy interior, mood lighting, and the tangible quality of materials and trim used on the dash, steering wheel and door panels, create a welcome ambience of space and light.

Height adjustable head restraints, central armrests, and plenty of leg room, ensure an optimal drive environment for all. A wide rear bench with a slightly reclined seatback position offers ample space and comfort for rear seat passengers too. With two leather upholstery colours to choose from you can customise the interior to your own style.

Interior mood lighting in the new Citroën C5 creates a feeling of well being, particularly at night. Diffused light from a number of sources creates a relaxed mood in the cabin. LEDs in the roof and door panels combine with light guides running the full length of the dashboard. This creates a feeling of warmth and relaxation and is a standard feature on 'Exclusive' models.

Special care has been given to the selection of the materials used within the cabin as well as to the finishing of every element. The materials used are soft and tactile.

The sleek and flowing styling of the door panels combine form with function. Integrated armrests and handles feature as well as door pockets. Door pockets for the front seats are also equipped with sensors that automatically illuminate when a hand approaches to ensure easy access.

The design of the dials combines elegance with innovation. The analogue dials are permanently backlit while the needles rotate around the outside of the dials allowing large information screens to be placed inside bringing all driver information to a central area straight in front of the driver. This reinforces the feeling of being centred in a cockpit that is totally focussed around driving pleasure and control.

The memory function allows two individual drivers to program their preferences into the car. Not only is it possible to set electric seating adjustments, you can also set the positioning of the rearview mirrors and their preferred climate control settings.

Optimal Comfort

Something strange happens when you sit inside the new Citroën C5 - you feel excited and relaxed, all at once. That's because the new C5 is characterised by both quality and excellent levels of comfort for all, in particular, the driver.

Nothing sums up this unique experience better than the luxurious leather seats, which are ergonomically sculpted for maximum comfort in all driving conditions. Heated, electric front seats which can be effortlessly adjusted to your preferred position, and a driver's seat with massage function - in terms of comfort, what more could you ask for?

For the ultimate in driving comfort, relax with a back massage. This function is available for the driver's seat and gently massages the lower back when activated by the simple push of a button. The front seats are also equipped with variable heating.

The front seats are fully adjustable allowing all drivers to find their ideal driving position. Adjustments can be made for reach, height, seat incline, backrest incline, lumbar support, and the angle of the upper backrest. Furthermore, the welcome function of the driver's seat allows easier access to the cabin. On unlocking the vehicle, the seat will automatically retract by 50mm to allow for easy access. Once the ignition is turned on, the seat returns itself to the memorised position.

Comfortable Airflow

The new Citroën C5 is equipped with automatic climate control air-conditioning. In the rear as well as the front, the air vents are fully adjustable. In the front, the driver and the passenger have access to individual temperature and airflow controls. A soft diffusion system creates a continuous blanket of air within the cabin for complete thermal comfort. The glove box is also cooled via vents from the air-conditioning.

An air quality sensor constantly monitors the air entering the cabin. As soon as the level of pollutants reaches a certain level, for example in city traffic, it isolates the cabin by automatically activating the air recirculation function.

Innovative Sound

Drive comfort is at the heart of the new C5 and it has numerous advanced soundproofing features to wrap you in your own haven of tranquillity. This serene environment has been achieved by the utilisation of acoustic windscreen glass, triple sealing of the doors, additional soundproofing of the wheel arches, and high levels of soundproofing throughout the cabin. With the C5's insulation innovations you can truly escape from the noise of the outside world.

With a cabin that is so well insulated from outside noise, the HiFi System* in the Citroën C5 is sure to satisfy lovers of crystal clear music. A powerful digital amplifier with Dolby© surround sound is combined with a bass speaker in the boot and 8 Philips speakers situated throughout the cabin for clear, powerful sound.

Protective Force

Like the Citroën C6 which has one of the highest ever combined EuroNCAP scores, the C5 offers an outstanding level of safety and has a 5-star EuroNCAP rating*. Its wide array of sensors lets the C5 adjust suspension, braking and engine functions to get you out of trouble before you're even aware you're in it.

Accident avoidance is the key to passenger safety. From the comfort of the driver's seat to reduce fatigue, to the various and lengthy list of active and passive safety equipment, the entire design process of the new Citroën C5 has been focused around safety.

The driving position benefits not just from the usual collection of airbags, but also a driver's knee airbag and a retractable steering column for total on-road control. Citroën C5 is also equipped with a vast array of electronic driving aids: ABS, EBD, EBA and ESP with ASR traction control.

In conjunction with the Hydractive III+ suspension and the electric parking brake, Hill Start Assist function is also available as standard. When the brake pedal is released on a slope, this function automatically holds the vehicle in place for up to 2 seconds. This allows the driver time to move to the accelerator without the car rolling.

While passenger protection is the key focus of the new C5, vehicle protection has also been of importance. All models feature remote central locking as well as deadlocks where the vehicle automatically locks while in motion and automatically re-locks after 30 seconds if no doors are opened.
