With its sleek lines and elegant styling, the Citroen C5 Saloon is a luxurious drive that both looks and feels good on the road. The rear of the Citroen C5 Saloon is particularly distinctive, with its concave rear window. Besides giving it a striking look, the window offers excellent visibility.

The diumal headlamps add a premium touch that underlines the qualities of the C5 as a great road car. Chrome inserts give a sense of real style to the body, radiator grille, front and rear bumpers (and side windows on the Exclusive trim).

Interior

Sit behind the wheel of the Citroen C5 and you know you're in the cockpit of a machine built for a superior drive. All the controls you need are immediately to hand in and around the steering wheel itself. Driving information is clearly displayed on three elegant dials with needles running around the dial rather than across it.

The C5 also boasts premium quality seating, meeting the highest standards in comfort. The front features "Comfort" seats, or "Sport" seats for firmer support. The seats include multi-way power adjustment with memorised settings to help you find the ideal position. For an even more relaxed ride, massage and heating functions are also available on the Exclusive models. Passengers at the rear will appreciate the three-seater bench with adjustable head restraints and a wide central armrest.

The Citroen C5 Saloon has a spacious, well tough-out interior designed to meet your every need. The integrated storage compartments make full use of every available space in the cabin and the boot gives ample room for storage. Plenty of leg room in the back means that passengers travel in first class comfort, and the rear seats fold forward to free up a flat loading area.

The sophisticated premium design of the C5 cabin is an invitation to travel. Every detail of the cabin, from the dashboard to the central console and door panels, reflects the clear choices made in styling. Special attention was paid to the choice of materials and to finish, with lacquer trim, chrome inserts, real metal, slouch molding, etc.

The Citroen C5 Saloon is available with an electric sunroof that allows you to fill the cabin with natural light and air.

Comfort

The air conditioning in the Citroen C5 helps make sure everyone has a comfortable ride. Features include: Customised and programmable temperature settings. A rear air blower and automatic re circulation. A soft diffusion system that creates a uniform blanket of air around the cabin.

The Citroen C5 Saloon has superb soundproofing to keep you and your passengers traveling smoothly. Its laminated side windows on the exclusive models have excellent acoustics. Made of two sheets of glass and one of plastic, the windows filter out more exterior noise. A triple seal effectively soundproofs the doors. The engine sits in a sound absorbent casing.

The Citroen C5 Saloon has a high spec Hi Fi system with eight speakers built into the dashboard and doors. A Subwoofer in the boot to improve bass. A 350 watt Dolby Surround digital amplifier for enhanced sound throughout the cabin.

Hill Start Assist

The hill-start assist function works with the electric parking brake to keep your vehicle steady for two seconds when you release the brake pedal on a slope of over 3%. This gives you time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.

Parking Sensors

Optional front and rear sensors make parking easier - especially when space is tight in the city. Sensors in the bumpers sense any obstacles, sound a beep and show you how close you are to other cars and objects on the on-board computer screen.

Parking Space Gap Measurement System

The parking space 'gap' measurement system works with the parking sensors to help you park neatly. It tells you whether the space is big enough and lets you know how difficult it will be to park.

Cruise Control and Speed Limiter

The cruise control/speed limiter, with its steering wheel controls, helps you have a more relaxed driving experience.

Cruise control keeps the car at a set speed while you take your foot off the accelerator.

The speed limiter keeps the car within the limit you choose.

Both can be easily turned off by pressing the accelerator.

Electric Parking Brake

Push a button on the central console and the electric parking brake calculates how much force is needed to keep the car stationary. It comes on automatically when you stop the engine and shuts off when you put the car in motion. This means you can rest assured that you Citroen C5 will always be securely parked.

The electric parking brake is standard on all cars with Hydractive 3+ suspension.

HYDRACTIVE 3+

The Hydractive 3+ suspension makes for a safe, comfortable ride by: Adapting automatically to road conditions and driver input. Keeping the car at a constant height, regardless of its load. Offering a sport mode for a more dynamic ride, giving you more driving pleasure and thrills behind the wheel. Letting you choose between a soft and firm stiffness setting.

METALLIC

The Citroen C5 metallic suspension gives amore direct road feel for sportier driving. It's been perfected to set high standards in both ride and comfort.

Enhanced Safety Headlamps

HALOGEN HEADLAMPS

The Citroen C5's halogen lights help you anticipate bends in the road by covering an angle of up to 75 degree's on both sides of the car - helping you see and be seen.

XENON DUAL-FUNCTION DIRECTIONAL HEADLAMPS

At twice the brightness of halogen lights, optional Xenon dual function directional lights provide exceptional visibility at night and in poor weather to keep you and your passengers safe and sound. The white beams also help make night driving less tiring.

The lights follow the steering angle of the car so that you can see the road ahead sooner. Corner lights reaching out of 105degrees on each side and daytime running lights make you more visible on the road.

Advanced Safety Braking

The Citroen C5 has an innovative and comprehensive braking system: There are four large vented disc brakes. An ABS(anti-blocking system) function adjusts braking pressure electronically to stop the wheels locking. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) spreads braking power evenly to all four wheels. Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA) boosts braking power instantly when the driver brakes hard. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)

Intelligent Traction Control

Unique to Citroen, intelligent traction control (ITC) provides grip on slippery surfaces to help the car travel through snow, black ice and rain. ITC analyses factors such as the slope of the road, type of snow and ice to adjust the slippage of the right and left wheels separately.

Airbags

With up to nine airbags, the Citroen C5 helps keep you and your passengers safe and sound: Standard airbags include front, side, knee and curtain. Two extra side airbags are available in the back.

Body Structure

The body of the Citroen C5 sets the highest standard in passenger protection, and has won five stars in EuroNCAP tests. Two impact absorbers at the front dissipate energy in an impact and protect the main body of the car. The steering column retracts over 65mm at impact. High body stiffness provides better protection in any high-speed frontal impact.

Tyre Pressure Monitor

The optional tyre pressure monitor continuously checks pressure and warns you if it drops too low.

Environment

HDI Technology

HDi engines are top of the range. Polluting less and using less fuel than conventional diesel engines, they cut CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by 20%. They also use an electronically controlled system to optimise the air/fuel mix and reduce emissions.

Particulate Filter

The Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) on the DHi engines helps protect the environment by trapping and burning particles produced by the engine. This means that the particulate emissions of the Citroen C5 drop to barely measurable levels that are beyond even the future EU environmental standards.

The Citroen C5 Saloon is built in France at our Rennes site, where we've invested heavily in the environment and in sustainable development. Our industrial facilities use the latest technologies and the site has ISO 14001 certification.
