Citroen Dispatch

C5 Overview

An enjoyable workday

The new Citroën Dispatch range of vans provides an array of user options with two wheelbase lengths combined with two impressive turbo diesel engine options. When our designers sat down to design the Dispatch we made sure they ticked every box.

The Citroën Dispatch is all about making the most of the working day on the road and has been designed to offer car-like drive and comfort. We believe everyone should enjoy the same levels of comfort and driving enjoyment, whether you are driving one of our cars or one of our vans, and the Citroën Dispatch is no exception.

To make your journey comfortable and enjoyable, all Citroën Dispatch vans have a fully adjustable padded steering wheel with radio/CD player controls at your fingertips, a fully adjustable driver's seat and air conditioning.

awards

International Van of the Year 2008

In a ceremony in Amsterdam at the European Road Transport Show on 25 October 2007, it was announced that Citroen Dispatch had beaten off competition from an exceptionally strong field to win the title.

"Whether empty or laden, the on-road driveability of the Citroën Dispatch is second to none," said Andy Salter, UK International Van of the Year jury member and editor of Commercial Motor. "The fact it has also been designed for passenger purposes offers an obvious benefit for the driver. Both driveability and manoeuvrability are greatly improved over the outgoing model. In addition to developing a commercial vehicle with the comfort, handling, chassis stiffness and safety standards of a passenger car, the engineers have also ensured the braking system is superb and the availability of ESP and several airbags puts it at the top of the safety class. This van is also the only vehicle in its class to meet the European safety standard for cars ECE 12-03. A worthy winner of the Van of the Year 2008."

The panel of judges, drawn from Europe's top international transport journalists, were impressed by the Citroën Dispatch’s innovative and practical design, positive moves to reduce its carbon footprint and high levels of safety, comfort and driveability. The Citroën Dispatch range offers great versatility with two wheelbases, a platform cab and multiple door configurations available.

"The Dispatch's sheer versatility, operational efficiency and compact size set it apart from the many competitors in this increasingly popular sector of the van market," says Miles Williams, General Manager for Citroën in Australia. "The Citroën Berlingo has been an enormous success for Citroën in Australia and the arrival of the Dispatch will take our commercial business to a whole new level, enabling Citroën to take its commercial vehicle abilities to a new group of customers and provide Berlingo owners with the means to maintain their fruitful link with Citroën when their businesses need a bigger van."

With today's increasing emphasis on reducing environmental impact, the Citroën Dispatch's 'green' credentials were also a key consideration. Here it scored very highly, with class-leading fuel consumption and the availability of Citroën's Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS). This is the first time such a system, which reduces particulate emissions to virtually immeasurable levels, has been offered on a van in Europe. Also, like all other Citroën light commercial vehicles, the Citroën Dispatch can run on up to 30 per cent biodiesel, without any modification or effect on warranty.

The Citroën Dispatch also scores highly in ease and economy of operation.

"It has one of the lowest insurance groups in its class and the whole vehicle has been designed with ease of maintenance and repair in mind," explains Miles Williams. "This makes the Dispatch an extremely practical proposition for the fleet operator, for whom minimising vehicle downtime must be one of the prime considerations in vehicle selection, providing Citroën with another exceptional business opportunity when the Dispatch arrives in mid-2008."

Features

Engine options

Two Euro IV options: a 2.0L Common Rail Turbo Diesel (HDI) with 88 kilowatts of power and 300 Nm of tourque at 2000 RPM or the optional 2.0L Common Rail Turbo Diesel (HDI) with a diesel particulate filter system with 100 kilowatts of power and 320 Nm of torque. (The latter is only available with Pneumatic Suspension).

Transmission

Both turbo diesel engines are mated to a 6 speed manual transmission to deliver Citroën's renowned diesel power and performance.

Making work easy

The two glazed, hinged rear doors open to 90° and up to 180° thanks to a retractable rod system and are equipped with a windscreen wiper and a heated rear windscreen.

A very practical 12V socket is located in the load compartment allowing the connection of a portable lamp, for example. Particularly useful in facilitating loading/unloading operations, the adjustable pneumatic rear suspension (optional) allows the rear sill of the vehicle to be raised or lowered.

There are plenty of optional extras to complement the impressive standard features, so you can adapt the Citroën Dispatch to suit your style and comfort needs.

Take your seat

The ergonomic design of the driver’s seat of the Citroën Dispatch guarantees excellent body posture and offers comfort even during long periods of driving. To find the optimal driving position, the seat back is adjustable, while the seat cushion can be adjusted for length and height.

The front doors offer wide access to the cab interior, with two fixed opening positions, at 38° and at 58°, for smooth and easy access. Once seated, the driver benefits from an ideal driving position, which can be fine-tuned by the means of height- and depth-adjustable seat and steering wheel functions.

Numerous storage spaces are incorporated in the dashboard. A lockable glovebox which is illuminated as well as cooled through the air conditioning system, a large capacity recess on top of the dashboard, retractable side cup holders with open or closed storage areas just below, according to version, driver’s storage pocket immediately under the steering wheel: like any good professional, the Citroën Dispatch likes things neat and tidy!

The Citroën Dispatch is also equipped as standard with overhead storage, located in the roof above the front passengers. Easily accessible, this wide storage space comes with two large side openings.

Immense inside

The pneumatic rear suspension, optional on SWB and LWB 88 kilowatt models and standard on the LWB 100 kilowatt model guarantees a constant ride height under load to offer optimal road holding. This system also maintains a constant overall height of less than 1.90m, which is below the standard minimum limit for entrances to underground car parks. Lastly, the manual control for adjustment of the load sill offers incomparable convenience by allowing a reduction of the rear sill height to 45cm: the ride height returns to normal automatically as soon as the speed reaches 10kph.

Additionally, Citroën Dispatch vehicles with pneumatic suspension can be fitted with optional height adjustable suspension. This offers incomparable convenience by allowing an increase or reduction of the rear sill height. The ride height returns to normal automatically as soon the vehicle reaches 10kph.

The wide double sliding side doors with an overall opening of 924mm allow easy access to the front part of the load area. With a huge rear load width of 1600mm, imagine just how easy pallet loading is going to be!

The total load volume of the Citroën Dispatch varies from 5 to 6m3, according to the length of the rear compartment, offering a payload of 988 to 1,188 kg. The optional full bulkhead between the cab and the load area can be panelled or glazed.

Comfortable Airflow

The new Citroën C5 is equipped with automatic climate control air-conditioning. In the rear as well as the front, the air vents are fully adjustable. In the front, the driver and the passenger have access to individual temperature and airflow controls. A soft diffusion system creates a continuous blanket of air within the cabin for complete thermal comfort. The glove box is also cooled via vents from the air-conditioning.

An air quality sensor constantly monitors the air entering the cabin. As soon as the level of pollutants reaches a certain level, for example in city traffic, it isolates the cabin by automatically activating the air recirculation function.

Innovative Sound

Drive comfort is at the heart of the new C5 and it has numerous advanced soundproofing features to wrap you in your own haven of tranquillity. This serene environment has been achieved by the utilisation of acoustic windscreen glass, triple sealing of the doors, additional soundproofing of the wheel arches, and high levels of soundproofing throughout the cabin. With the C5's insulation innovations you can truly escape from the noise of the outside world.

With a cabin that is so well insulated from outside noise, the HiFi System* in the Citroën C5 is sure to satisfy lovers of crystal clear music. A powerful digital amplifier with Dolby© surround sound is combined with a bass speaker in the boot and 8 Philips speakers situated throughout the cabin for clear, powerful sound.

*Optional feature available on 'Exclusive' models only at an additional cost.

style

Its car-like feel and driving dynamics make it a pleasure to spend time behind the wheel and it looks impressive, too. Its aerodynamic styling complements its tough, durable character.

The newly styled dashboard incorporates easy-to-use displays and controls. The stylishly and ergonomically designed front seats show this van is designed as much for driver and passenger comfort, as it is for reliable, hard-working days on the road. There are handy storage compartments and cup holders in the cabin, plus large interior lights to make visibility easy at night.

Fully adjustable seats have been designed to maximise driver comfort and you can now operate the radio/CD player with steering mounted controls. Great all-round visibility is achieved with a panoramic sloping windscreen, adjustable side and rear view mirrors, and a raised driving position.

The physical form of the Citroën Dispatch is as impressive as its functionality. Modern, dynamic styling begins with sweeping curves and robust bumpers, with the familiar front grille that is so synonymous with modern Citroëns. As you move along the Citroën Dispatch, you can tell there is plenty of room on board. Behind the cabin, the Citroën Dispatch's significant rear quarters contain a load-space of up to 6m3 and it will carry up to 1,188kg effortlessly.
